Oppenheimer surpasses MI7 box office collection in India, Barbie earns Rs 40 crore
Oppenheimer and Barbie opened in Indian cinema halls on July 21. They have been performing well at the worldwide box office as well.

Barbie and Oppenheimer have managed to become two of the biggest releases in 2023 so far. At the global box office, both of the films have left Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 behind. With Barbie soon to cross $1 billion worldwide, and Oppenheimer close to the $500 million mark, here’s how the two releases have fared in India.

Oppenheimer leaves Tom Cruise’s MI7
Oppenheimer has been performing extraordinarily well in India despite it being a non-franchise film. On its 3rd Saturday (Day 16), the Christopher Nolan directorial collected Rs 4.48 crore. The numbers saw a jump again on the third weekend. The film grossed Rs 17 crore on its first Saturday, which dropped to Rs 7.25 crore on its second Saturday.

Moreover, Oppenheimer has gone on to gross more than Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 in India. While the Tom Cruise starrer has earned Rs 104.92 crore, Oppenheimer’s total box office haul stands at Rs 109.73 crore.

Notably, Oppenheimer has managed to register a spike in its box-office collections while running in its third weekend. Nolan's films have managed to perform well in India through the years, and Oppenheimer was expected to do well too.
Barbie gains momentum at BO
Barbie had gone below the Rs 1 crore mark in the last few days. However, it collected Rs 1.54 crore at the box office on its third Saturday (Day 16). The film is expected to make a similar collection on Sunday. The Greta Gerwig directorial has minted Rs 40.67 crore so far in India.
