Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame wins at BAFTA's Britannia Awards
The Fleabag actor recently won an Emmy award for performance in the series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has become synonymous with stereotype breaking roles on-screen.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) organised the Britannia Awards on Friday in Los Angeles. British actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge won the British Artist of the Year award at the event. The actor reflected on her 'extraordinary year' during her acceptance speech on Friday night, she said: 'This has been the most extraordinary year of my life.'

In the Amazon series Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge depicts a character who speaks directly to the camera, between her dialogues, about her inner thoughts. The unique quality of the series is the cinematography along with the storytelling and, of course, Phoebe's acting. In the two-seasons old series, Phoebe's character says the unspeakable, does the undoable and defies every stereotype of feminine behaviour.

Victory at the Emmy Awards
Last month, Phoebe won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her show Fleabag. The series also won in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series category. Fleabag is an amusing yet painful comedy which traces the journey of its titular character through life and love, and how she bravely attempts to cope with tragedies in her life.

At the BAFTA awards
Also in the BAFTA Britannia Award ceremony, martial artist and actor Jackie Chan was honored with the Albert R. Broccoli award for worldwide contribution to entertainment. Actor Steve Coogan received the Charlie Chaplin award for excellence in comedy. American actor Jane Fonda was given the Stanley Kubrick award for excellence in film.

Phoebe is the creator and executive producer of season two of Killing Eve, a show which has won accolades in BBC America. Waller-Bridge has also helped re-write the script of Cary Fukunaga's upcoming James Bond film No Time To Die and has signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios.
