Quentin Tarantino refuses to recut 'Once upon a time' for China

In the wake of Chinese regulators pulling the plug of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', Quentin Tarantino refused to recut the movie for the Chinese market.

In wake of Chinese regulators pulling plug of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' just a week before its scheduled release, filmmaker Quentin Taranti on Saturday, October 19, refused to recut movie for Chinese market. According to reports, film followed heavy criticism after Bruce Lee's daughter Shann Lee complained about way her far, who was of Chinese descent, is portrayed in film.

What sparked objection in China over film 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' is when Cliff (Br Pitt) is seen on a film set listening to Bruce Lee (played by Mike Moh) deliver a lengthy, boastful mologue about how much better of a fighter he is. Yet Cliff disbelieves and mocks him which is followed by a dual between two, in which Cliff wins undermining legendary martial arts icon. Shann Lee called portrayal of her far, "disheartening." On or hand, according to news reports, Taranti while publicizing movie has said, "Bruce Lee was kind of an arrogant guy."

According to reports, Lee appealed to China's National Film ministration demanding to change way her far is depicted in movie. However, Taranti has refused to make any changes in film, despite a stop on film in China.

According to IMDB, film is based on plot where "a fed television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in film industry during final years of Hollywood's Golden in 1969 Los Angeles."  film is termed as 'Taranti's ode to Hollywood' by movie experts, which is set in summer of 1969. plot revolves around a fing star (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double, Cliff (Br Pitt).
