The Sex and The City actress Sarah Jessica Parker was at the SHE Media's Blogher 2019 Creators Summit, when she opened up about unexpected opportunities and how she ended up becoming a producer, on Wednesday.   

The journey to becoming a producer 

Speaking of Darren Star, she said that he mentioned that she should be a producer although she informed him that she didn’t know anything about it and that she has never produced a television show in her entire life. She also mentioned that he said that she must learn, at least for a year she must come to all the production meetings and just learn.

Following this, the actress came on as a producer at the start of Season 2 in 1999. The 54-year-old actress said that she thinks that working so closely with [fellow producer] Michael Patrick King, she learned the business of producing, which involves numbers and budgets and unions and interpersonal relationships and complicated people and easy people. Sex and The City production led Parker to other producing roles like in her series 'Divorce' years later, also made her a confident businesswoman, the outlet quoted Parker. 

Apart from being famous for her SJP line of high-end footwear, Jessica recently launched a line of wine entitled Invivo x SJP sauvignon blanc. The actress added that when she left the series, she had all that experience and then when she became interested in businesses other than television, she suddenly felt at least as if she had been in high-stakes situations make good choices.

All about the experience

She also mentioned that it's all about the experience, that’s what everyone wants, even if it’s the road to the destination, they are better for it. The audience of female bloggers and influencers at the Brooklyn Expo center were treated to samples of SJP’s vino as the actress toasted the crowd.

She concluded by saying that she is extremely excited for everyone and whatever they are doing, and working on, dreaming about and working toward because, in the end, all that matters is that we all be good to each other, be respectful of each other.
