Online platforms have a wide array of choicest shows to pick up and immerse in. From humorous, insanity, dark-comedy to weirdness, they have them all. On the occasion of Stranger Things Day, check out some of the darkest shows hidden in the ‘upside-down’ to give you goosebumps and chills.
1. Dark
This time-travel crime mystery is Netflix’s first original German series. Set in a German town, the show witnesses the lives of four families destroyed following the two young children’s disappearance. Slowly things start to get weird and creepy, the characters of Dark undergo cryptic mystery that cast them into different periods, which also includes the 1980s. Set in the backdrop of dark woods, eerie world, ugly secrets, the missing children under supernatural conditions lead to a tragic, apprehensive atmosphere.
2. X-Files
Oppressed and messed up beneath the government conspiracies, X-Files is crafted with a quirk and suspense that not many shows could compete with. The science-fiction supernatural show has eleven seasons to stick your eyes to. Similar to Stranger Things, X-Files has an offbeat concept which in many ways managed to outclass various other shows.
3. The Haunting of The Hill House
You will not be able to stop thinking about it until you rip through all the episodes of this wonder hit show, Haunting of The Hill House. The critically acclaimed and immensely thriving series took Netflix by storm. The supernatural show is loosely based on Shirley Jackson’s novel by the same name. Loaded with ample twists and turns, the Haunting Of The Hill House garnered commercial success all thanks to its engaging plot.
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Brimming with sharp wit and intriguing plot, Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes you on a ride full of monsters, and vampires. The female lead, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar proved her mettle by battling against the vampires. Set in Hawkins, Indiana, the sublime quirkiness that the show owns earned it popular acclaim and made it to the list of greatest TV shows of all time.
5. Riverdale
This is not a conventional horror series but has really dark undertones in its plot. Loosely based on the characters of Archie Comics, the plot revolves around investigation following the death of one of the rich Blossom twins. The town of Riverdale investigates the murder, through which Archie and his group tangles in the mysteries. Amidst navigating the case of Jason Blossom, the gang struggles through their everyday life whilst unfolding the secrets that are buried deep beneath Riverdale.
