Superman Legacy begins pre-production, James Gunn shares exciting update

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn took to Twitter to reveal that the pre-production for his upcoming film Superman: Legacy is finally underway.

DC Studios co-boss James Gunn revealed recently that his upcoming film, Superman: Legacy, has finally entered pre-production st. Gunn previously anunced that he will be writing and directing upcoming Superman film. Superman: Legacy marks first time in last twelve years that role of Superman will t be portrayed by Henry Cavill as beacon passes on to a new actor.

Gunn took to Twitter in order to anunce beginning of Superman: Legacy’s pre-production phase. Gunn posted a picture of first p of script and said that he is “houred to be a part of legacy.” DC Studios co-CEO added in tweet, “And what better day than Superman Anniversary Day to dive fully into early pre-production on Superman: Legacy’? Costumes, production design, and more w up and running.” Check out tweet below.

James Gunn on upcoming DC Slate

James Gunn has previously given a lot of updates regarding upcoming Superman film as well as or films in new DC slate. Previously in January, Gunn revealed upcoming DC Slate, which features plans for multiple projects in DCU for next eight to ten years. Flash, which is set to release on June 16, 2023, will serve as a reboot for DCU. 

Several projects such as Authority, Creature Commandos, Suicide Squad spin-off Waller, Booster Gold, Swamp Thing, Brave and Bold, Supergirl and Green Lantern are all part of upcoming DC slate, first chapter of which has been named ‘Gods and Monsters. Previously, Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Frank Grillo, who played role of Frank Rumlow/Crossbones in Captain America: Winter Soldier, was anunced to be a part of DCU’s Creature Commandos. Despite being one of most poppular directors in superhero genre due to  Guardians of Galaxy franchise, Gunn recently told Rolling Stone that he feels ‘superhero fatigue’ is a very real phemen.
