The comments of the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and superhero movies have not gone down well with many actors and directors, and the latest reaction came from Director Taika Waititi, who has directed Thor: Ragnarok, produced by Marvel Studios. Waititi made a light-hearted response to Scorsese’s comment. “Well, it’s too late for them to change to Marvel atic Universe,” said Waititi, referring to the word ‘Cinema’ in Cinematic. “Of course it's cinema! It's at the movies, it’s in cinemas, near you,” he added.
'That's not Cinema'
Martin Scorsese had said that he does not consider Marvel movies as cinema and at best they can be labelled as theme parks. Scorcese, during an interview to a British Magazine, had said, "I don't see them. I tried, you know? But that's not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks.”

Reactions from actors, directors
Robert Downey Jr, who has played Iron Man in Marvel movies, had also reacted to Scorsese’s comment. "I'll tell you the truth, I didn't expect (MCU) to become what it became and it is this very large, multi-headed Hydra at this point. I've always had other interests, and according to Scorsese, it's not cinema so I have to take a look at that, you know?" the 54-year-old actor said. "I mean it plays in theatres. I appreciate his opinion because I think it's like anything, we need all of the different perspectives so we can come to the centre and move on," he added.

Strongest reaction from Samuel L Jackson
But the strongest reaction came from actor Samuel L Jackson, who has featured in modern classics like Pulp Fiction. Jackson pointed out that not everyone is a fan of Scorcese’s film either. "I mean that's like saying Bugs Bunny ain't funny. Films are films. Everybody doesn't like his stuff either. I mean, we happen to, but everybody doesn't," said Samuel L. Jackson.
