Quentin Tarantino places Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' at second on his best films of decade list

Quentin Tarantino has heaped praises on Christopher Nolan's 2017 war drama Dunkirk which he says is number two in his list of best films of the last decade.

Los Angeles, Jan 3 (PTI) Quentin Taranti has heaped praises on Christopher lan's 2017 war drama Dunkirk which he says is number two in his list of best films of last dece.

During a recent episode of Ringer's Rewatchables podcast, Taranti said he is compiling a list of best movies me during 2010s and refore is revisiting a number of films for that purpose.

Dunkirk, a triptych exploring three stories from perspective of air, land and sea, is set around Dunkirk evacuation of British troops during World War II.

Taranti said film was initially placed seventh but rose to second spot after he rewatched it a couple of times. He said movie came across as a spectacle to him and delivered an absolute emotional experience.

"I h an interesting experience with it first couple of times. first time I saw it, I don't kw what I was thinking first time. I just dealt with spectacle of it all. I couldn't deal with anything else but spectacle of it all. I liked movie, but spectacle almost numbed me to experience.

"I don't think I felt anything emotional. I was awed by it. But I didn't kw what I was awed by... It wasn't until third time that I could see past spectacle and into people story is about. I finally could see through trees a little bit," director explained.

Taranti is yet to reveal his full list.

At 2018 Acemy Awards, Dunkirk was minated for eight Oscars and won best sound editing, best sound mixing, and best film editing.
