1. Adaptation of Henry James novel

Netflix the streaming giant announced this February 2019, that the second season of The Haunting of Hill House titled The Haunting of Bly Manor will be based on Henry James’ novel Turn of the Screw. This gothic novel by Henry James has been previously adapted for 1961 film The Innocents and has another movie based on it titled The Turning. The Turning will star Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard.

2. Mike Flanagan’s statement about the season 2 adaptation

Mike Flanagan in an interview stated that it has been a treat for him to in the world of Henry James. The second season The Haunting of Bly Manor has also taken inspiration from some other books and stories of Henry James said the director. He further commented that the whole season is built on James’ work and Turn of the Screw is just the basic plotline.

3. The plotline of Turn of the Screw

Turn of the Screw, Henry James’ classic gothic novel is a story of a young governess and two orphan kids. In the book, a young governess heads to the Bly Manor in Essex, England to take care of an orphaned boy and girl. The governess soon begins to notice and witness supernatural activity. She soon starts believing that the kids are being visited by ghosts.

4. Haunting of Hill House cast part of season 2?

Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen are both set to make a comeback in The Haunting of Bly Manor. Victoria and Oliver played the roles of Nell and Luke Crain in The Haunting of Hill House. Michael Flanagan has also confirmed that Kate Siegel who played the role of the mysterious Theo Crain and Henry Thomas who played the role of young Hugh Crain is also set to star in The Haunting of Bly Manor.
