Netflix dropped its latest original film The King which features Timothée Chalamet as King Henry V of England. The film is partly based on a William Shakespeare play and a part real-life incident which revolves around the story of a prince who takes the responsibility of his kingdom unwillingly and immediately goes to war. The period drama is helmed by director David Michôd who has predominantly worked as a screenplay writer. Joel Edgerton who has featured in pivotal roles in films like The Great Gatsby and Black Mass has co-written the film along with David Michôd.

Critics and audience reception The King
The film has garnered a mixed response from critics. Some are calling it a missed opportunity of portraying a larger than life story, and some are calling it a perfect blend of drama and action. Though critics have some strong views about the story and structure of the film, Timothée Chalamet's performance is being appreciated unanimously by everyone. Robert Pattinson makes a cameo in the film as The Dauphin. The film features an extended third act battle sequence which has reportedly garnered a lot of praise by the audience. As for scores, The film currently has a 71% critics Rotten Tomatoes score. Interestingly, the audience score for the film is 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics and audience divide in scores have been seen in many films in 2019 like Aladdin and Joker. The film stands at 7.4 on IMDB.
