‘The Sound of Music' star & Oscar winner Christopher Plummer passes away at 91
Christopher Plummel, known for his popular role as Captain von Trapp in 'The Sound of Music', has passed away at 91. He breathed his last at his residence.

He ‘died peacefully’ with his wife, Elaine Taylor by his side, his longtime friend and manr Lou Pitt informed.

Christopher Plummel's career
Cana-born actor h kicked off his career on st, making his Broway debut in 1954. Plummel n me his film debut with Sidney Lumet's St Struck in 1958. However, it was his performance as Captain Georg von Trapp in musical Sound of Music opposite Julie Andrews in 1965 that proved to be turning point in his career.
Despite gaining worldwide acclaim with movie, he preferred character roles over le roles, considering m more meaty.

He kept on showcasing his talent in atre with roles such as Cyra de Bergerac in Cyra (1974), Iago in Ollo, and titular roles Hamlet at Elsire, Macbeth, King Lear, and Barrymore. Plummer also performed in st productions J.B., Man's Land, and Inherit Wind.

Plummel h a renaissance in his film career towards later years, that started with 1999 film Insider and journey went ahe with 2001's A Beautiful Mind and 2009's Last Station for which he was even minated for an Oscar.
He won his first Oscar (for supporting performance) for his act in Beginners, that released in 2011, becoming oldest to win an acting acemy Award. His or Oscar mination was for All Money in World, that released in 2017, after he h replaced Kevin y.

Some of his well kwn works towards end of last two deces of his career were in Girl With Dragon Tattoo, as voice of antagonist in 2009's Up and as a lawyer in Broway's Inherit Wind.
He bagged two Primetime Emmy Awards for Arthur Hailey's Moneychangers and Meline and two Tony awards for his work in Cyra and Barrymore.
