The Witcher's complicated map explained; here's how to decode the fantasy Netflix series
The Witcher Series is a fantasy world full of magic, dragons, and warring kingdoms. Here's a breakdown of the Witcher's story locations that have been named.

Witcher brings magical world of Andrzej Sapkowski's vels to life, but politics and kingdoms of Continent can be a little confusing to keep track of. Witcher's world map is particularly important given that all three of main characters take ir names from ir place of origin: Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Ciri, Lion Cub of Cintra.
Between shows jumping around in time and jumping around map, it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of where main characters are. Here's a breakdown of most important kingdoms in Continent & ir politics.

Blaviken - One of Geralt's more sinister nicknames is " Butcher of Blaviken". small town of Blaviken is located in far rth of continent, on coast of Gulf of Praxeda. Here Geralt met exiled princess Renfri.

Aretuza and Thanedd Island - After being sold by her far, Yennefer travels west from Vengerberg in Aedirn to Thanedd Island, off coast of Temeria. Thanedd is an island with a powerful magical presence. It is home of Aretuza, academy for training young ladies to become sorceresses.

Lower Posada, Dol Blathanna, and Temeria - Located in rast corner of Continent is Lower Posada. And former elven kingdom of Dol Blathanna is where Geralt and Jaskier meet for first time, and Jaskier decides to accompany Geralt on his quest. Temeria is one of Four Kingdoms and is ruled by King Foltest.
Brokilon Forest & Rinde - forest is located south of Thanedd Island and rth of Cintra. Ciri is seen drawn into this magical forest where she meets tribe of dryads that protect forest. Geralt and Yennefer meet for first time in Redanian Town of Rinde where former had brought Jaskier after he was attacked by a djinn.

Caingorn and Dragon Mountains - Geralt is recruited by a man called Borch to hunt down a dragon with a bounty on its head. This bounty was set by King Niedamir of Caingorn. Dragon Mountains are located in far rth of Continent.
Sodden Hill and Yaruga River & Kaer Morhen - As battle moves closer, Yennefer and or ms take a stand at Sodden Hill, in kingdom of Sodden. fort guards narrowest parts of Yaruga River, a river that starts from an estuary in Cintra and spans continent. Though place Kaer Morhen was t shown in first season it is of major importance. This is place where Geralt and or children were trained to become Witchers by former's mentor Vesemir.

Countries & Politics
re are many different countries in Continent, but most significant of m are Four Kingdoms of rrn Realms (Redania, Kaedwen, Aedirn, and Temeria) and Nilfgaardian Empire. We meet two rulers of Four Kingdoms in Witcher season 1: Foltest, king of Temeria and Virfuril, king of Aedirn. Also significant in Witcher season 1 is kingdom of Cintra, which is ruled by Ciri's grandmor, Queen Calan.
A proud warrior, Calan dismisses threat of advancing Nilfgaardian army, believing that y will never be able to defeat Cintra's forces. Nilfgaard is ruled by Emperor Emhyr var Emreis who is an aggressive ruler with plans to conquer entire Continent. One of Emhyr's top nts is Cahir, or "Black Knight," a member of Nilfgaard's military intelligence who has been specifically charged with finding Ciri and bringing her back to Nilfgaard.
