Tobey Maguire Dating Actress '3 Years Older Than His Daughter'? Spider-Man Star's Ex-wife Reacts

Hollywood actor Tobey Maguire, most popular for essaying the role of Spider-Man in director Sam Raimi's superhero trilogy, is reportedly dating a 29-year-old younger actress than himself. This has led to criticism online to which Maguire's ex-wife has also reacted. The Great Gatsby star, who is 49, was spotted with 20-year-old actress Lily Chee at Michael Rubin's annual Independence Day party, which sparked dating rumours between the two. However, the age gap between them led to online trolling.

According to People, on July 4, Tobey Maguire was photographed with his arm around the model-actress at the star-studded White Party in the Hamptons, New York. They wore matching white outfits.

Some criticised Maguire due to the age gap between him and Chee. “Spiderman was released a year BEFORE she was born this is crazy (sic),” read a post on social media that quickly went viral and gathered over 13K likes.

After trolling, Jennifer Meyer, who was married to Maguire for nine years before they separated in 2016, allegedly came to his defence during two heated Instagram exchanges.

Responding to a comment that accused Tobey Maguire of "banging someone 3 years older than your daughter," Jennifer Meyer said that he was "kindly helping" Chee to her car. The screenshots of the conversations were shared on Reddit. Meyer added that Maguire was simply "being a good guy."

"And now he has (been) blasted online for dating someone he is not. But thank you for your rude comment. I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light," she continued.

Meyer reportedly later responded to the same person online, writing, "I am disengaging after this… But don’t believe everything you read (I’m sure you were taught that somewhere) Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets."  

Meyer and Maguire share two children, son Otis, 15, and daughter Ruby, 17.
