Tom Sturridge to headline the DC 'Sandman' series for Netflix?
Tom Sturridge has been rumoured to have been roped in to play the lead role in the series 'The Sandman' which is being produced for Netflix.

Neil Gaiman has had a number of on-screen adaptations ranging from Good Omens, American Gods, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, and Ocean at End of Lane in past few years. As of w, writer is all set to gear up with Netflix for Sandman, which was written by Gaiman for DC comics.
Sandman creator had recently revealed that shooting for on-screen adaptation of DC series will be going on floors in three weeks. However, Collider has w reported that Tom Sturridge is in talks to play lead role.

Tom Sturridge as Sandman?
Warner Bros has given greenlit for a show for Netflix in place of ir flagship streaming service, HBO Max. production of same had taken a hit in wake of COVID-19 pandemic. However, it allowed series creator, executive producer, and showrunner to flesh out script and characters in more detail, according to Neil Gaiman.

According to Collider, Tom Sturridge had auditioned for titular role early on in year. Actor Tom York and Colin Morgan had also auditioned for same role, however, Tom bagged role and will be essaying character on-screen. An official anuncement for same is yet to be made.

This won't be first time makers have attempted to bring Sandman from DC can on-screen. Previously, New Line wished to make popular adaptation which would feature Joseph Gordon-Levitt in lead role. actor was also on-board to direct film having spent three years developing project and leaving it after citing creative differences.

casting choice of Tom Sturridge does t sound like a far stretch as actor has worked in a Netflix project before titled Velvet Buzzsaw. Netflix is kwn to use its talent in multiple projects based on work y have done earlier for streaming service.

Collider reached out to both Netflix and Sturridge's representatives who did t respond to any queries. Gaiman had previously revealed on his Tumblr p that script of first season had finished writing and casting had begun but had to be stopped in wake of COVID-19. It looks like project is back in full swing.
