Toronto Film Festival ditches traditional award ceremony this year

Toronto Film Festival ditches its traditions and cancels the award ceremony and the announcements this year will be done through social media and press releases

In 44th annual Toronto Film Festival, for first time, re won't be traditions of formal awards ceremony. Instead, anuncements of TIFF's top audience award and jury winners will be done through social media and press statements. Reportedly, officials of award festival made this decision of anuncing awardees through a press release and social media in order to increase speed of communication with winners.

Reason for changes

This is also in reference to fact that during festival, most of major winners are unavailable in city to accept ir trophies. officials also believe that capturing award winners on social media will allow m to celebrate ir award with audience. Ar custom which will be broken this year is anuncement of winners of Platform and International Federation of Film Critics competition. Usually, it used to happen on Sunday which is final day of festival however, this time it will be anunced later on.

Indian Cinema and TIFF

On September 10, a breakfast networking session was hosted by Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Indian participation at Toronto International Film Festival. TIFF Co-Head ackwledged “strong connection” between Indian Cinema and TIFF. richness of country's cinema was also appreciated. TIFF co-head also laid focus on various styles along with langus, regional langus, musicals, animations, serious dramas, and comedic stories produced in India.

According to TIFF, Indian cinema is more than just Bollywood and that re is or country that makes as many films as Indian Cinema produces. It was in policy of outreach, Indian Delegation also met with Canadian Government officials who were also informed about recent developments undertaken by Indian government to improve synergy between producers to take care of co-productions. According to TIFF co-head, re are significant attractive growth opportunities in Indian Cinema and thinks India makes “all in one destination to make films”, and that too on global st.
