Universal, Paramount Pictures halt theatrical releases in Russia amid Ukraine crisis

Amidst the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, it was recently revealed that Universal, Paramount Pictures and others have paused the theatrical releases in Russia.

After Disney, Warner Bros and Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures and Paramount recently anunced that y will be pulling off atrical releases of a couple of films planned to go on floors in Russia amidst crisis in Ukraine. re were a bunch of movies lined up to release in Russia in months of March and April whose release was recently paused by Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures.

Universal, Paramount halt atrical releases in Russia

According to Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson of Universal Pictures recently issued a statement revealing that y will be halting atrical releas4es of ir films in Russia amidst ongoing Ukraine-Russia War. statement read-

“In response to ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Universal Pictures has paused planned atrical releases in Russia.” 

American computer-animated crime comedy film, Bad Guys was slated to release in Russia on 24 March 2022 followed by Michael Bay’s Ambulance on 7 April 2022. Bad Guys is directed by Pierre Perifel with a talented cast of voice artists namely Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos, Awkwafina, among ors. On or hand, Michael Bay's action thriller film, Ambulance featured Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González in lead.

Furrmore, after Paramount Pictures decided to pull off ir releases in Russia, firm issued a statement revealing that y have decided to halt atrical releases of ir upcoming films including  Lost City and Sonic Hedgehog 2. Adding t it, y also mentioned that y will stand by all those impacted by humanitarian crisis across Ukraine, Russia.

statement read, "As we witness ongoing trdy in Ukraine, we have decided to pause atrical release of our upcoming films in Russia, including  Lost City and Sonic Hedgehog 2. We stand by all those impacted by humanitarian crisis across Ukraine, Russia and our international markets and will continue to monitor situation as it unfolds.”
