Why Marlon Brando refused the Best Actor Academy Award for ‘The Godfather’?

Hollywood actor Marlon Brando best kwn for his role in movie Godfar celebrates his birthday today. actor’s amazing performance in film- Godfar was t only appreciated by audiences abut also won him an award at 45th annual Academy awards. However, rar than sitting in audience, Marlon Bradon had chosen to boycott event for one specific reason.

On March 27, 1973, when actor's name was anunced as winner of Academy Award for Best Actor, a woman made her way to dais and respectfully declined award. Introducing herself, she revealed that her name was Sacheen Littlefear, who was also an actor as well as president of National Native American Affirmative Im Committee. She stood on st and began her speech by saying that she was representing Marlon Brando that evening.

In her speech, Sacheen Littlefear said, “(Marlon Brando) has asked me to tell you in a very long speech which I cant share with you presently, because of time. But I will be glad to share with press, afterwards. That he would very regretfully cant accept this very generous awards.” She did t just stop at that and went on to reveal reason behind Marlon Brando’s absence and why he rejected award.

Quoting reason as to why Marlon Brando rejected prestigious hour, Sacheen stated, “ reasons for this being are treatment of American Indians today by film industry.” crowd started booing her as she looked down and said ‘excuse me’.
