Honey Singh 'Makhna' Controversy | 3 times the rapper has been called out for inappropriate lyrics in the past

Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh who is currently called out for the track-'Makhna', has time and again being accused of using indecent lyrics in his songs. Take a look

Indian rapper and musician Yo Yo Honey Singh courted another controversy over the alleged objectionable lyrics of his song- 'Makhna' which released in December, last year. As per media reports, The Punjab State Women Commission has sought action against him and the chairperson of the panel Manisha Gulati has written a letter to the state home secretary, Punjab Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police (Crime), recommending appropriate action against the singer for using lines like ‘Mein hoon womaniser’ and ‘Silicon wali ladkiyon ko mein pakadta nahi’.

However, this is not the first time he is called out for such an issue. The rapper who seems to be a repeat offender has time and again being accused of using indecent lyrics in his songs. While the rapper is in the news for his recent activities, let's take a look back at the instances he was called out for using sexist rap in his songs.  

May 2013 | FIR filed against Honey Singh for the song 'Main Hoon Balatkari'

As per media reports, a case was filed against the Punjabi rapper in May 2013 accusing him of creating vulgar songs with sexual violent content directed at women after he released the track 'Main Hoon Balatkari'. An FIR was reportedly filed at the Nawanshahr police station against the singer and reportedly he was booked under Section 294 (singing obscene songs at a public place to the annoyance of others) of Indian Penal Code.

However, in July 2013, the Chandigarh High court reportedly dismissed all the cases filed against him.

October 2013 | Honey Singh received legal notice for the song 'Party All Night' from Akshay Kumar's 'Boss' 

After the release of the song 'Party All Night' from Akshay Kumar's 2013 venture 'Boss', Yo Yo Honey Singh was sent a legal notice from a Haryana-based NGO for singing a vulgar, clumsy and irresponsible song openly promoting the consumption of liquor. Deepak Rathi, the then vice-president of the NGO Earth Protector, said that it insults women and promotes bird partridge. She also said that the song goes against the Supreme Court guidelines on playing music till late at night. As per media reports, producers of the movie had to submit a petition in Delhi High Court claiming that they had 'muted' an alleged vulgar word following the same.

December 2014 |  Yo Yo Honey Singh was arrested on account of obscene and sexually explicit songs

In December 2014, The 'Lungi Dance' singer was arrested by Panchpaoli police on account of obscene and sexually explicit songs. A complaint was registered against him which said that he was going to sing obscene songs during a concert in August 2013. As per media reports, he was charged under sections 292,293 of IPC and section 67 and 67(A) of the Information Technology Act.
