A research ship travelling in coast of Tasmania captured foot of a meteor as it entered Earth's atmosphere. As per release, meteor was green and was spotted by bridge crew and reported to science staff on board. meteor was captured by a livestream camera, which captures live vision from ship 24/7.
Meteor breaks up in sky
According to release, CSIRO Voy Manr on board RV Investigator John Hooper said that it was just pure luck that enabled m to capture this foot. He said, “What we saw on reviewing livestream foot astounded us, size and brightness of meteor was incredible. meteor crosses sky directly in front of ship and n breaks up – it was amazing to watch foot and we were very fortunate that we captured it all on ship livestream”.

CSIRO Astromy and Science scientist said that this incident is a reminder that isn’t empty. He said, “Over 100 tonnes of natural debris enters Earth's atmosphere every day. Most of it goes unseen as it occurs over an unpopulated area like sourn ocean. When a meteor enters Earth’s atmosphere at high-speed, it is friction of rock with atmosphere that makes m burn, as ir kinetic energy is converted to or forms like heat, light and sound”. He furr said that many meteoroids were asteroids that travelled through as per ir own trajectory. However, this can change when y enter earth’s atmosphere. This is how y become meteoroids and can be ‘visually spectacular’.
