Kadri Gopalnath passes away: Tributes pour in for the saxophonist
Kadri Gopalnath was the first musician to introduce saxophone in Carnatic music. The legend died at the age of 69. due to cardiac arrest on October 11.

Kri Gopalnath, a rewned saxophonist, passed away today at of 69. Kri Gopalnath was a pioneering musician who was awarded Pma Shri for his table work in music industry. Gopalnath is survived by wife Sarojini and two sons, Manikanth Kri who is a table music director and Gurupras Kri, who is working in Kuwait. Tributes on social media poured in for celebrated musician after his demise.

According to media reports, his family informed that musician h been mitted to A.J.Hospital and Research Center in Mangaluru (Mangalore) on October 10. y informed he was suffering from back pain. He took his last breath at 4:45 am on October 11 due to cardiac arrest. Kri Gopalnath's last rites are yet to be performed as his family is waiting for his son who works in Dubai to return.

Gopalnath’s mortal remains will be kept at Town Hall in Mangaluru, to allow people to pay last respects to ted musician. As news of his death spre, a large number of fans arrived at his house in Pavinangy to pay ir tributes. Kri Gopalnath was first person to introduce Carnatic music on saxophone in India. He was first Carnatic musician who was invited to play at BBC Promene concert in London's Royal Albert Hall in 1994.

Among people who remembered Gopalnath were Sumanth Raman, Karnataka's tourism minister C.T.Ravi and classical singer Sanjay Subrahmanyan.

Kri Gopalnath h received several awards during his lifetime, including Kendra Sangeet Natak Acemy Award. Interestingly, Mangalore and Bangalore universities h conferred him ir horary doctorates.
