Guruprasad's high decomposed body found days after his death
Several media publications have reported that Guruprasad's body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his Madanayakanahalli apartment in Bengaluru. It is alleged that the filmmaker took his own life and his body was found a few days later.
CK Baba, Superintendent of Police (SP), Bengaluru Rural confirmed to Deccan Herald that Guruprasad's neighbour altered the law enforcement after a foul smell came from his apartment. The police have sent the 52-year-old's body for postmortem and more details will be known thereafter. As of now, the police are certain that the incident took place a few days ago.
Guruprasad alleged to be under financial crisis
While the cause of his death is not confirmed yet, reports suggest that Guruprasad might have resorted to suicide after being in financial crisis. It is being reported that the filmmaker was accused of non-payment in the past. Lakshmikant, the owner of Total Kannada bookstore in Jayanagar, had filed a complaint against the filmmaker for not completing his payment. The case is from 2019, when Guruprasad allegedly made purchases of Rs 65,000 but failed to make the payment. The complainant alleged that the director moved his residence and could not be contacted.
Guruprasad got remarried recently and is known to make films on important, hard-hitting subjects. Some of his best works include Mata, Eddelu Manjunatha, Director’s Special, Eradane Sala, and Ranganayaka. The state-award winning director has also acted in a few movies besides direction.
