Kantara actor Rishab Shetty slams OTT platforms for bias against Kannada films

Rishab Shetty calls out OTT platforms
Talking to reporters on sidelines of ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Tuesday, Shetty said Kanna movies used to generate revenue after participating in initiatives like NFDC Film Bazaar.

“But after COVID19 pandemic and due to OTT platforms, markets have collapsed. OTT platforms are refusing to accept Kanna films because one commercial film (from Kanna) backfired,” Kantara actor-director said.

“w, OTT platforms are saying that y are t open to Kanna films. That is really b. Just because of one film, you cant say that re is market for film or re are subscribers,” he ded.
Shetty said he has done three films in Kanna, which are doing festival circuits. actor-director claimed that if OTT platforms do t open doors, n se would be last films that he has done for any festival circuits.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara at IFFI
Shetty received critical acclaim for writing, directing and starring in Kantara, a Kanna period action thriller that was released in 2022.
movie, which is being screened at IFFI as part of international competition, is set in fictional vill of Dakshina Kanna and follows a Kambala champion, who comes to loggerhes with an upright Forest Range officer, Murali.
