A goat has been arrested by the Kanpur police for not wearing a mask and strolling on the road, various media reports suggested on July 27. Many people took to Twitter to express shock and claim that this was the first time when a goat was arrested for mot wearing a mask. Reports claimed that the bizarre yet hilarious incident took place in Beconganj area of the city, where the police found the animal wandering. The officials then picked up the goat, put it inside their jeeps and took it the police station, the reports claimed.
The reports further suggested that later, when the goat’s owner found his animal missing, he rushed to the station, pleading the officers to release his animal. The police freed the goat, however with a condition that the owner would not the goat out, without a mask, as per reports.

A video of the goat being pushed inside a police van went viral on social media and people assumed that the goat was 'arrested'. Kanpur police, on July 27, replied to a tweet debunking the news that of the unusual arrest. Kanpur Police, in their tweet, informed that the goat was roaming around Dada Miyan intersection during lockdown and was brought to Beconganj police station to be handed over to its owner.
