Mingyu is a South Korean singer, rapper and member of the boy group SEVENTEEN under Pledis Entertainment. He was born in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. He is the lead rapper of SEVENTEEN and the face of the group. Mingyu has performed globally but recently encountered a situation. On September 8, during the boy band's headline performance at the 2024 Lollapalooza Festival in Berlin, he reportedly experienced an inappropriate incident, sparking outrage among fans.

A video from the show quickly went viral, showing the LALSEVENTEEN’s MingyuAL/rapper approaching the barricade to chat with the crowd. During this interaction, someone allegedly touched his abs, which upset the CARATS.

Online users expressed their frustration towards the individual in the audience, highlighting that Mingyu is frequently sexualised. Many believe this incident signals a troubling attitude where people feel entitled to touch others without consent, disregarding the inappropriateness of such behaviour.

Fans react with anger to the incident

SEVENTEEN fans flooded social media, insisting that no one should touch an idol without permission. They voiced their frustration, pointing out that some people behave inappropriately without consideration. Fans stressed that Mingyu’s way of interacting with the audience should be respected and that touching someone without consent is unacceptable.

Many supporters joined in, expressing their anger and disappointment over the alleged misconduct of a particular fan.

Some fans argued that certain individuals "don’t deserve to be close" to their idols, as they cross boundaries and behave poorly. One fan commented, "Mingyu was close to the crowd because he trusted Carats! Why are people touching him without asking?" Another added, "I hope he wasn’t uncomfortable. Isn’t that person a Carat? They should know how Mingyu is..."
