Malayalam Actor Meghanathan Dies At 60 Due To Lung-related Illness

Meghanathan, a popular Malayalam actor and son of Balan K. Nair, died today, November 21 at age of 60, according to industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai. According to a report in Mathrubhumi, veteran actor was undergoing treatment for breathing difficulties at a private hospital in Kozhikode and succumbed to complications of a lung-related illness.

Meghanathan's last rites will be held today

Sreedhar Pillai took to his X handle on Thursday, and shared two photos of actor with a note, "Popular Malayalam character actor #Meghanathan(60) who became popular in negative roles passed away in a Kozhikode hospital! RIP."

actor's funeral is scheduled to take place at his residence in Shoranur on Thursday.

Who was Meghanathan?

Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Meghanathan was third child of popular Malayalam actor Balan K. Nair and Sara Nair. After completing his studies, actor me his debut in 1983 with Malayalam movie Asthram, starring  Bharath Gopi, Mammootty and Mohanlal. Over his career, he worked in both Malayalam and Tamil movies, such as Mammootty starrer One, Kooman, Lisammayude Veedu, Thanthonni and Nerariyan CBI. In dition to his successful film career, Meghanathan was a familiar face on television, having acted in popular serials such as Sthreetvam, Meghasandesham, Kathayariya, Snehanjali, and Chitta.

He was last in movie Samhana Pusthakam, released earlier this year.

About Meghanathan's personal life

He has four siblings, brors - Anil and Ajayakumar - and sisters - Latha and Sujatha. He was married to Sushmita and couple has a daughter named Parvathi. family resides in Shoranur, Palakk.
