Mollywood #MeToo Movement: After the Hema Committee Report findings, several #MeToo cases are being reported against stakeholders in the Malayalam film industry. Actress Minu Muneer is the latest celebrity to come out with shocking claims of physical and verbal abuse she suffered at the hands of people both on and off camera.

The actress took to Facebook and wrote in a post, “I am writing to report a series of incidents of physical and verbal abuse I suffered at the hands of actor Mukesh, actor-producer Maniyanpilla Raju, actor Idavlela Babu, actor-producer Jayasurya, Advocate Chandrasekharan, production controller Noble and Vichu in the Malayalam film industry.”

She further wrote, “In 2013, I was subjected to physical and verbal abuse by these individuals while working on a project. I tried to cooperate and continue working, but the abuse became unbearable. As a result, I was forced to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai. I had spoken out against the abuse in a newspaper article. I am now seeking justice and accountability for the trauma and suffering I endured. I request your assistance in taking action against them for their heinous actions."

More revelations by Minu Muneer

According to Minu, actor-producer Jayasurya had told her that if she "cooperated" with him, she would reap benefits. However, when she resisted his advances, she was denied opportunities. According to reports, the incident with actor-producer Jayasurya allegedly took place on the sets of the movie De Ingottu Nokkiye, where he suddenly grabbed her from behind and physically harassed her.

Reportedly, Minu also alleged that actor Mukesh had misbehaved with her during the filming of the movie Calendar. When she resisted his advances, Mukesh allegedly used his influence to reject her membership application in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).

She furthermore said that actors Maniyanpilla Raju and Edavela Babu had spoken to her in a sexually explicit manner.
