Nivin Pauly, Booked For Rape, Swiftly Dismisses MeToo Allegations: It Will Be Handled Legally

Nivin Pauly and five others have been reportedly named by an actress in a sexual assault complaint. In response, the Premam actor has denied all allegations against him. “I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I'm determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take. All necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally,” Nivin wrote on social media.

Nivin Pauly and five others booked under IPC Section 376

Premam and Bangalore Days actor Nivin Pauly was named as one of the accused in a fresh case of sexual assault registered at the Oonnukal Police in Ernakulam. He and five others have reportedly been booked under non-bailable charges in the case. Nivin is one of the popular names that have come to the fore amid the #MeToo wave that has engulfed Mollywood in the wave of the publication of the Hema Committee Report on August 19. Another name that has come to light in the complaint is of producer AK Sunil.

The complainant approached the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was formed following the release of the Hema Committee Report. The SIT later notified the incident to Oonnukal police. Charges of rape under section 379 of the IPC have been filed against the accused. 

Who is Nivin Pauly?

Nivin Pauly is considered a superstar in the Malayalam film industry and shot to fame in mainstream Mollywood in 2015 with the release of Premam. His career as an actor began in 2010 but he quickly rose to fame, featuring in nearly 50 movies in a short span of time. He mainly features in romantic films and comedy dramas, which has earned him a solid fan base among the youth.

Nivin has been married to Rinna Joy since 2010. Rinna comes from a Syrian Catholic Nasrani family in Kadavanthra and was his girlfriend during their college years. They have a son named Daveed.
