Perilloor Premier League trailer: Nikhila Vimal fights election against Ashokan in political comedy

The Malayalam web series, Perilloor Premier League, will debut on Disney+ Hotstar next year. Ahead of its release, the makers unveiled the trailer of the show on Wednesday. It seemed to be set in a rural backdrop, where a gram panchayat election is about to take place.

Perilloor Premier League’s trailer promises a laugh-riot. It suggested a cartoonish comedy that arises from the misfortune of its various inhabitants, with its rural setting and a multitude of characters against the backdrop of an election. 

Playing the role of Malavika in the series, Nikhila Vimal appears to have been handpicked to run against Ashokan's character, another unlikely contender. Parallely, Sunny Wayne's character seems to be searching for his perfect match. 

The storyline of the series may revolve around how the characters of the two come together. Looking at the trailer, Perilloor Premier League looks to be more lavish than the previous Malayalam long-format productions that are presently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar,

Perilloor Premier League, which centres on the gram panchayat elections in the town of the same name, will go live on Disney+ Hotstar on January 5. The web series will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Bangla in addition to Malayalam. The series' cast includes Aju Varghese, Sarath Sabha, Ashokan, and Adhri Joe in major roles. 

While Ashokan has previously starred in Nithya Menen and Sharafudheen's Masterpeace, directed by Sreejith. Aju had made his web series debut with Kerala Crime Files.
