2 arrested after destruction of church set of Tovino Thomas' 'Minnal Murali' sparks row

2 persons were arrested and cases registered against more after destruction of church set for Tovino Thomas' 'Minnal Murali' by right-wing groups sparked a row.

destruction of a set depicting a church for Malayalam film Minnal Murali allegedly by right-wing activists sparked a controversy. As le actor Tovi Thomas, or members of film industry and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned incident, state police has swung into action. Two persons have w been arrested in connection with vandalism.

As per reports, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal Ernakulam district president Raesh Malayattoor and ar person named  Rahul have been nabbed.  police have registered a case against seven members of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal and ors. case has been registered under sections 379 (ft), 454 (trespassing) and 427 (damaging property) of Indian Penal Code.

A vehicle allegedly used during vandalism has also been impounded by cops.

Tovi Thomas h shared pictures of set at Kaly, and how shoot was on hold due to lockdown, before ‘racialists’ vandalised it.  actor said incident h created ‘distress, and even more of anxiety’ and that y were planning to take legal action.

State general secretary of AHP claimed responsibility of attack on Facebook and claimed that set was destroyed as it was situated i Sankaracharya mutt. Members of AHP and Bajrang Dal allegedly boasted about incident on social media.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, ''Kerala will never be a place where fanatics of any kind would be allowed to go scot-free. All of you can be rest assured that all those who destroyed film set near Kochi will be tackled as per law. What is wrong if a film set remains re, as we all kw that due to COVID-19, all film shootings came to a sudden halt. se acts will t be tolerated."

Aluva Shivaratri Manappuram Samithi, who owned land on which set was situated, too filed a complaint with Perumbavoor police. 

Actors like Dulquer Salmaan and Nivin Pauly condemned incident on social media.
