The new guidelines issued by The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) led to a perception that only Tamil artists would be allowed to be part of Kollywood films.  Actor Pawan Kalyan heavily criticised this new directive and  advised the Tamil industry to be more inclusive.  Actor Nassar has now claimed that the new guidelines were misinterpreted.

3 things you need to know

  • It was claimed that FEFSI directed filmmakers to only sign Tamil artists in their films.
  • It allegedly made it mandatory for makers to not shoot in other countries or states.
  • Actor Nassar came forward and cleared the air around the new guidelines.

Nassar claims that reports by FEFSI were miscommunicated

Actor Nassar brushed aside the reports that claimed that only Tamil artists can be signed in Tamil films and shared a video clearing the air. He said, "There’s a wrong news going around in the media that actors from other languages will not be entertained in the Tamil industry. This is misinterpreted and mischievous information." He added that he such resolutions take place, then he would be the first one to raise his voice.

Nassar claimed that the industry needs actors from other industries as this is the new era of pan-Indian films. In such a time, no one will take such actions or even propose such resolutions. He said in the video, "To protect the workers of Tamil film industries, Mr Selvamani has taken some serious decisions that they (Tamil workers) have to be engaged in the films that are made inside the boundaries of Tamil Nadu."

Nassar claims that the doors to Tamil film industry is open to all

Nassar added that this is not just about actors, but it is also about the rights of workers. He mentioned that the Tamil industry has been known for inviting talents from across industries, "from SV Ranga Rao sir to Savitri Amma to Vanisri Garu, we have a long tradition." He told everyone to not take this matter seriously and pledged that together they will take their films to a global level.
