New York Philharmonic performs on streets amid COVID-19 pandemic

Known as America's one of the oldest musical institutions, New York symphony orchestra was seen playing outdoor pop-up shows, in front of pickup trucks.

New York’s popular Philharmonic orchestra has taken to streets amid coronavirus pandemic to perform and entertain fans while concert hall remains closed. Kwn as one of oldest musical institutions of America, symphony orchestra was seen playing outdoor pop-up shows, pickup truck emblazoned with ‘bandwagon’ and or surprise oks and corners to allure fans. group was spotted wearing face masks and adhering to health safety protocols while performing and wants to make gigs safe for fans, according to media reports. 

Opera singer and series producer Anthony Roth Costanzo reportedly said that New York City was group’s orchestra and members were soloists. refore, in se challenging times of pandemic, musicians were singing tunes for moment of social change and were exploring newer ways to connect to audience. Costanzo was quoted as saying in a local report that musician had to explore ways to reinvent concert-going ritual and continue doing music with precautions. band isn’t about curling up in homes but more like getting house out in world, and sharing what music can do, he said. On such evening, musicians were seen playing classic New York ballad "Somewhere" from "West Side Story” for socially distancing crowd with Roth Costanzo, Quan Ge on violin, and Cong Wu on violin and Mozart's Allegro on guitar.

Pedestrians made videos of performance

While trucks honked, cars sped past, and vendors selling clos and bathroom towels moved slowly by musicians, many rolled down window panes to give ear to blaring music on busy streets, according to international media reports. While band blared arrangement of Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind” several pedestrians took out ir phones to shoot videos and many ors onlookers sang along and participated as crowd. Like most bands, Philharmonic took to online shows and visual gigs amid pandemic, however, musician Cong reportedly felt that it wasn’t same.
