Great Indian Kapil Show: A controversy has erupted over one of recent episodes of celebrity chat show for purported comments on Rabindranath Tagore. episode aired on October 26 and featured Do Patti team, including le stars Kriti Sanon, Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh. Bengali community has taken offense over "disrespectful" comments me on Nobel laureate, demanded an apology from makers and asked for objectionable portions to be cut from episode.

What led to 'boycott' of Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix

In one of skits in episode, Krushna Abhishek, imitated Jackie Shroff in Bengali accent. gag was seemingly presented for Kajol, who is a Bengali. Tagore's iconic patriotic song Ekla Chalo Re was spoofed to elicit laughter. As part of segment, Krushna sang Ekla Chalo Re with some rephrased wordings and said, "Akela nahi chalne ka. Ek din main akela chal raha tha aur paanch kutte mere piche pd gaye. Main jaanta hoon maine kaise apne aapko bachaya hai." This spoof has not gone down well with Bengali community who called it defamatory and offensive.

Legal notice issued to Great Indian Kapil Show

Following outrage within Bengali community over spoof on Rabindranath Tagore, a legal notice was issued to Netflix over specific episode of Great Indian Kapil Show. legal notice sent by Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation alleged that disparaging remarks were me against Nobel laureate which risk offending religious and cultural sentiments.

Netflix h earlier responded to legal notice, saying that comedy programme is purely intended for entertainment purposes and features parodies and sketches without targeting any individual or community.
