The Perfect Couple Review: Netizens Call Nicole Kidman Starrer 'Entertainingly Absorbing'

The Perfect Couple debuted on Netflix on September 5. Directed by Susanne Bier the series features an ensemble cast led by Nicole Kidman and also marks the Hollywood debut of Ishaan Khatter. The show is a murder mystery set in the background of one of the wealthiest families in Nantucket headed by the novelist Greer Garrison Winbury. Following the premiere of the drama, several social media users took to their accounts to share their first reviews of the Netflix series.

Following the premiere of the series, several social media users went online to share their reviews of the show headed by Nicole Kidman. The first impression of the mystery thriller has been mostly positive with netizens comparing it to popular drama Pretty Little Lies. Most users have been praising the performance of Kidman with some even claiming that she holds the show together.

A comment read, “nicole looks so good in the perfect couple! she looks like herself agaiiiiiiiiiin” Another user concurred by saying, “Nicole Kidman’s Beach-Read Cinematic Universe.” Some users have also been raving on about the opening credits in the show and shared, “the dance sequence in the opening credits to the perfect couple has to be the most unserious thing in a murder show”, while another stated, “Netflix have got to release an extended version of the opening credits for the perfect couple cos 26 seconds ain’t enough!”

A user likened the muyrder mystery with Pretty Little Lies and wrote, “A prestige corker, “The Perfect Couple” Netflix channels “Big Little Lies” with many of the same selling points: A murder mystery, an upscale coastal setting and Nicole Kidman. It’s trash but high-toned trash, which is pleasurable when done well!” Another agreed by sharing, “I’ve got a couple of days off work and I started The Perfect Couple on Netflix and it’s basically Big Little Lies in The Hamptons but better. Dakota Fanning, Meghann Fahy, Jack Reynor, Sam Nivola, Mia Isac, Donna Lynne Champlin, and Isabelle Adjani also round out the cast of the series.
