'Curious' penguin interacts with other zoo inhabitants during lockdown, watch video

Amid lockdown due to ongoing pandemic when people are restricted to visit public recreational premises, a zoo in San Diego, California, took an initiative to introduce penguins with primates. In clip that San Diego zoo posted on Facebook, endangered penguin Dot can be seen exploring Zoo and interacting with primate Ellie to keep itself and animals engd in times of isolation. 35-second clip captured attention of Facebook users as y lauded zoo’s efforts to keep inmates entertained in difficult times.
With over 66k reactions and nearly 2k engment, clip is earning recognition for zoo members for exhibiting animals to life outside cs. While world is confined at homes, penguin was seen wandering freely meeting with new friends in excitement.

zoo explained that video was also aimed to encour conservation program for endangered species of penguin in zoo. It wrote, “ African penguin population has declined by 60% in last 28 years. We're proud to participate in Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan (SSP) program for se endangered aquatic birds and to partner with SANCCOB saves seabirds, to help facilitate conservation programs in South Africa.”
