Muzaffarpur shelter home sex scandal shook nation and threw light on need to develop institutional mechanisms and while Bollywood is keeping mum on issue, singer Sonu Nigam in an exclusive chat with Republic TV chose t to mince his words and raised some serious questions about our education system.

rewned singer Sonu Nigam t only emphasized on lack of awareness amongst children but targetted schools for t providing sex education. "What has been exposed in Muzaffarpur, is perhaps only tip of iceberg. In a country as big as India with such Dynamic contrast between living standards and thinking standards, one can very easily believe that re are thousands of such cases that go unreported and unexposed. I can perhaps write a book on what needs to be done and how this perversion can be contained. But for w, all I can say is this kind of exploitation can only end or be curtailed through a very open and healthy and matter of fact doze of apt and Optimum sex education in all schools throughout country and that too in a very uniform way.

singer also spoke about issue of educating young boys about ir own bodies and female bodies while y are growing up. " private schools in more expensive schools have an edge over government schools or schools that fall in lower category. Everyone needs to be given a very uniform perspective on sex and understand and learn how to respect somebody else's body. I heard that victims have been given psychiatric and psychological treatment but I believe that if boys were given correct psychological interpretation of sex and ir own bodies and female bodies and what it means to be a good human being when y grow up, such a situation would never arise."

Sonu me a point by saying that it's our mentality that has to be treated first rar than playing a victim card and blaming government policies. "We need to clean entire society's mindset inste of putting blame conveniently on eir police or government. This is more of a moral issue than ministrative, and we can see that reason why culprits haven't been punished as yet, is also due to same moral degration I'm talking about. People who do t think that such a crime is punishable, or such horrible criminals do t need to be held accountable for ir crimes, are kind of people who share same mindset and morality as that of criminals. Time to talk."

t only on mass rape but Sonu also opened up about controversial issue and stated that prostitution should be legalized. "Also, time to legalize prostitution. I was in very famous city of Amsterdam 2 days back where it is so rmal to see women scantily dressed, in a controlled legalized area designated for prostitution. And apparently, country does t require a huge police force because re is hardly any crime wher robbery or Heist or rape! On or hand, I see women and transs openly standing around 4 bungalows area in Andheri or in Juhu, and yet prostitution is t legal."

A change has to be brought to our society, to our surroundings but most importantly change in mentality is what we need most.
