Shonali Bose, the ace-helmer of many films that have started a cinematic revolution in the likes of Margarita With A Straw, and Amu is back with a bang with the biographic tale 'The Sky Is Pink'. From the first glimpse, something about the tale grasps you, one the viewer cannot finger-point, be it Aditi & Niren's love story ( played by Priyanka Chopra & Farhan Akhtar) or be it Aisha Chaudhary's light-hearted narration that makes the film happy, emotional yet not one-bit overdramatic. The 149 minutes will make the audience feel a burst of emotions and different variations of it. Many times, one will be left with a smile, a chuckle, and when you least expect it, the reality, the lesson of it all will hit you, making one weep.

Setting the Scene:
The film starts with the famous streets of Delhi's Chandni Chowk, starring power-couple Aditi ( Priyanka Chopra) and Niren Chaudhary ( Farhan Akhtar) who are already parents to Ishaan ( Rohit Saraf), and are mildly surprised when they realise that they are to give birth again, cue to Aisha Chaudhary (Zaira Wasim). However, the duo is haunted by the past, as it is revealed that they lost their first-born daughter to SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency), which their second-born ( Aisha) is now suffering from. A few minutes into the film comes Aisha’s voiceover, declaring that she is, in fact, dead. The humour and wit in her narration is sure to draw the audience in immediately. Referring to her death she says, “Get over it. It’s quite cool actually.”

Plot:
Known to all, the film is a biographical tale of Aisha Chaudhary (Zaira Wasim), an 18-year-old who suffers from pulmonary fibrosis, who then goes on to write her own book, 'My Little Epiphanies' and also becomes a motivational speaker at the age of 13. While the basic storyline of the film is revealed in the trailer itself, what one does not know about are the hardships of Aditi & Niren ( Priyanka and Farhan) who throughout the journey keep a heart of steel. The tale apart of all the emotions, boasts a heartwarming love-story of the power-couple who stuck through all the hardships & complications together while taking care of their two children.

Verdict:
With utmost sincerity and honesty, Shonali Bose has brought out a heartwarming tale of love and life. By the end of it, not only does it teach you to celebrate life but death as well. Given it is based on a rather sensitive subject, the writing is quite witty and not even once does the film feel heavy.Speaking about performances, Priyanka Chopra comes back with a bang after three years, making you fall in love with her character. She portrays Aditi with complete ease, in a rather effortless and a natural manner. Farhan Akhtar, on the other hand, delivers his best performance, after Rock On and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf given their previous stints in the industry have brought in yet another towering performance, and are A-class. One can say that the casting is on point, which acts as a major strong point in the film. The 149 minutes will evoke a series of emotions in one and is sure to make you ponder about life, death and other nuances that come with it.
What works: The chemistry between Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar is a definite plus point, the film boasts impressive music, especially Dil Hi Toh Hai. End of it, the actors have given a bang on performance.

What doesn't work: The duration of the film could be cut down, because it does feel a little lengthy by the end of it
