With drugs angle surfacing with respect to Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh murder case, narcotic influence in Sandalwood industry has hit limelight. Bror of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was assassinated in 2017, has w thrown a new dimension to Kanna film industry. This scandal has surfaced after arrest of three individuals M Aop, Anikha D and R Ravindran when Narcotics Bureau of India busted a drug racket in city of Bengaluru.
Indrajit Lankesh spoke to media on August 29 regarding involvement of certain actors in drug menace. He even alleged that names of two new actresses surfaced during an investigation, but y weren’t interrogated due to supposed political connection.

Lankesh is a filmmaker, who seems er to share information with police, provided he is given equate security. “re is a link between drug industry and Sandalwood. Some actresses consume banned substances at parties and carry m in ir vanity sets too,” he said.

director did also mention that big stars of Kanna film industry were involved in narcotics. Without taking name, Lankesh questioned why re was progress in a case involving a car accident a few years ago at South End Circle, Bengaluru. He said that re were drugs found in car along with some artistes.

Police sources claim that drugs being supplied through ‘dark net’ was detected while raiding places belonging to a few drug peddlers. Joint commissioner of police (CCB), Sandeep Patil, stated that a tice has been issued to Lankesh summoning him for questioning. “We have requested him to share all details with us to help us fight drug mafia,” he ded.
Karnataka excise minister H Nsh supported Lankesh and assured action against drug menace. Congress leer Siddaramaiah was quick to criticise ruling government in Karnataka, blaming BJP for alleged rise in "sale of marijuana in state".
