Shefali Shah shares genesis of 'Delhi Crime 2'; urges fans not to compare it with season 1

After almost leaving viewers intrigued with first season of International Emmy minated series Delhi Crime, makers have w returned with second season. With series premiering today, fans have been excitedly waiting to watch actor Shefali Shah back again solving heius crimes as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi. 

Starring an ensemble star cast including Shah, Rasika Dugal, and Rajesh Tailang among ors, season 2 is sure to offer much more than expectations of avid fans. During a recent conversation with Hindustan Times, Shefali who sat with cast to share ir experiences of shooting for season 2, also spoke about ir expectations from viewers. 

first season of show took giant streamer, Netflix by storm with its gritty and accurate depiction of hunt for perpetrators of famous 2012 Delhi gang rape in season one. This time, with season 2, team of same cops is on hunt for a more sinister group of criminals – infamous dreed kachha-baniyaan gang.

This year, director Tanuj Chopra has taken responsibilities of creator from Richie Mehta. Despite winning critical acclamation from all across globe, team realises that second season will be compared to first. Talking about same and requesting fans to watch it on its merit, Shefali says, “We are t aiming to make season one. We have been given a legacy of something so beautiful, leave it re. First and foremost, re is competition that this has to match up to that. This just has to be good in its own and I am very proud of what we have me."

Furr, she ded, "A comparison might be natural but honestly, my sincere request to people is that y give it its due chance and n decide. What audience feels is t in our control. But don’t burden it with something else, which is t fair.”

Shefali whose bold mannerism and sensitive handling of police procedures as a DCP was highlight of first season, explained how second season introspects more about lives of team and ir struggles behind solving crime. “I get to delve deeper into her. In season one, re was a crime that shook entire nation and world, and how this team reacted to it. Here, it is t as simple as re is a crime and re are culprits and evidence. Here, re is so much introspection that it is amazing", she ded.

"In season one, line was very clear. re was wavering moral compass. Here, it’s t as simple as that. It’s far more muddled," she ded.  After first season was released in 2019, it took three years for makers to come out with second part. Season 2 of series comprises of six-parts. Apart from Shefali, Rasika, and Rajesh, show also stars il Hussain, Gopal Dutt, Sidharth Bhardwaj, Denzil Smith, Yashaswini Dayama, and Tillotama Shome.
