Manga series Shinchan became a rage amongst the kids in 1990s when it was released. The cartoon gained world-wide fame and was aired in sevreral countries. The show which began airing in 2006 in India was banned in 2008 due to appropriate content. On the basis of this, the voice artist of the show, Aakash Ahuja talked about working on the show.

Akash Ahuja: They would censor it all later

In a recent interview with The Motor Mouth YouTube channel, actor Aakash Ahuja shared his experience dubbing for the controversial animated show Shinchan when it was banned in India.

Ahuja revealed that the show, despite its playful appearance, contained content far too inappropriate for young viewers. "I have seen Shinchan dancing naked, and I have dubbed that too," he disclosed, explaining that while dubbing, the actors were initially asked to record questionable scenes, which would later be reviewed. “He would sing lines like ‘haathi, mera pyara haathi,’ and it was so lewd. Even adults shouldn’t watch it, it was so dirty. They would censor it all later.”

He further said, ““There used to be a line on the show ‘Bachhe churane vali moti budhiya (fat woman who steals babies),’ that was the line. After the case was filed… by then we had done around 150-200 episodes, I was called and all those lines were changed otherwise Shinchan would never be put on air. We changed all those lines so it could go on TV”.

What more did Akash revealed?

Aakash began to experience difficulties with the job. He ultimately stepped away from dubbing, citing vocal strain and the need to focus on his school board exams. "My voice changed as I got older. What I could do at age 10, I couldn’t do anymore by the time I was 15," he explained.
