Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25, 2020, at MGM Healthcare in Chennai. An official statement from hospital revealed that cause of death was related to COVID-19 complications. He was a much-respected musician who h received four doctorates from top universities in India. His fans and friends have been sending out condolences to family through various social media platforms.
SP Balasubrahmanyam received four doctorates
SP Balasubrahmanyam was one of most respected and houred musicians in country. classical musician h received his first Horary Doctorate in year 1999, from Potti Srimulu University in Andhra Presh. In year 2009, he received second and third Horary Doctorates from Sathyabama University and Andhra University respectively. In year 2010, SP Balasubrahmanyam was awarded ar doctorate from JNTU institution in Ananthapur.

SP Balasubrahmanyam was also houred with a Pma Shri and Pma Bhushan by Indian government for his contributions to music industry. He created music in close to 16 langus including Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil, amongst ors. He was also a rewned actor who played pivotal roles in films like Khalan, Ullaasam, and Keli Kanmani. SP Balasubrahmanyam has been a pivotal part of music and film industry for last 50 years.
Musician SP Balasubrahmanyam h been mitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai in first week of August after he tested positive for COVID-19. late musician h also informed his fans through Facebook that he h tested positive and h decided to get himself mitted to hospital.

SP Balasubrahmanyam h been doing well in first few days, but he h to be shifted to ICU after his health significantly deteriorated. He h also tested negative for COVID-19 on September 7 after being under life support and intensive care. However, Assistant Director of MGM Healthcare later said in a statement, "His condition in last 24 hours has deteriorated furr warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical".
SP Balasubrahmanyam’s son SP Charan released ar statement on Friday saying, “SPB belongs to everyone. He will live on in his songs. My d passed away at 1.04 pm."
