Madras HC directs police to take action in case against Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' song

Mras HC on Wednesday, September 16, reportedly directed Tamil Nu police to follow lawful course of investigation in a case filed against Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru by a Dharampuri district resident. He has reportedly appealed HC to postpone release of Suriya starrer till Tamil Nu elections in 2022. According to a recent report published on News Minute, Mras HC has asked Tamil Nu police to take action in Soorarai Pottru case as per law.

Soorarai Pottru release to be halted?

According to News Minute's report, Karthik, a resident of Dharmapuri district, filed a case against Soorarai Pottru's song- Mannurunda Mela in Mras HC last week. He believed a few lines from song with initiate political unrest in state. Karthik reportedly believed that a few lines from song me castist remarks, and if released it would disrupt peace between two castes. Hence, he appealed for postponement of film's release till Tamil Nu elections revealed News Minute's report. 

Karthik reportedly filed an official complaint with Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police six months ago asking for a ban on Soorarai Pottru's release. However, re was development in case, which forced Karthik to approach Mras HC. In a recent interview with  News Minute, Karthik revealed that high court has asked him to file a fresh case with police.

Soorarai Pottru to release on Amazon Prime in October 

Soorarai Pootru will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in October 2020. movie will premiere exclusively on streaming platform on October 30, 2020. Initially, film was expected to hit marquee in April 2020. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, movie's release was postponed.
