Amaran: Petrol Bombs Hurled At Cinema Hall Screening Sivakarthikeyan Starrer, No Injuries Reported

Amaran is a biopic on Major Mukund Varadarajan, who was posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra for his valour during a counter-terrorism operation.

Some unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a cinema hall screening actor Sivakarthikeyan’s biographical drama, 'Amaran', early on Saturday, police said.

No one was hurt, police, who are investigating incident, said.

A group of Hindu Munnani (Hindu Front) activists were detained by police for allegedly entering atre after incident occurred, and were later released, outfit said.

"Two miscreants hurled petrol bombs inside compound wall of cinema complex in Melapalayam. It exploded. No one was, however, injured and it did not cause any damage to property," police said.

Strongly condemning incident, Tamil Nu BJP vice-president, Narayanan Thirupathy, alleged that "Islamic fundamental organisations such as SDPI, MNMK, Thouheed Jamath h earlier protested against movie 'Amaran' a biopic on Major Mukund Vararajan, who was posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra for his valour during a counter terrorism operation, stating that it h portrayed Muslims as terrorists which was not true." movie h in several scenes shown Indian Muslims as martyrs and patriots. "But unable to bear that movie h shown terrorist activities that took place in Kashmir, fundamentalistic organisations h threatened screening of movie," he alleged in a post on social media platform 'X'.

But people of Tamil Nu welcomed movie and me it a huge success. Unable to digest this, today fundamentalist organsisations resorted to violence and hurled petrol bombs in a atre where movie 'Amaran' was screened, Narayanan said.

According to a leer of Hindu Munnani here, a few members of organisation led by its state vice president V P Jayakumar went to atre purportedly to console atre owner but were however detained by police.

"We were stopped at entrance to cinema hall. police prevented us from entering and claimed that we h assembled to protest. But we clarified that y h only been re to console affected atre owner," a senior functionary said.

Jayakumar who entered into an argument with police, later said his party members h not gared to protest.

" police h even prevented us from meeting press who h assembled near cinema hall," he said.
