The movie is inspired by the life and valour of Major Mukund Varadarajan (Sivakarthikeyan) and his partner Indhu Rebecca Varghese, essayed by Sai Pallavi. With just a few days left for the film's release, the hashtag 'Boycott Sai Pallavi' has been trending on social media.
The actress is one of the most sought-after stars in Indian cinema right now and has not been part of any major controversies. However, when the hashtag trended, many were left curious as to why is it happening.

Why are netizens boycotting Sai Pallavi before Amaran release?
Amaran is said to be an ode to the Indian army. However, an old video of the Athiran actress has been trending given the subject matter of her upcoming film and the comments Sai made in an old interview.
In the clip which has gone viral now, she remarks that the Indian army is viewed as a “terrorist group” in Pakistan . Sai can be heard saying in the clip, which is from an interview in 2022, “People in Pakistan think our army is a terrorist group. But for us, it is them. So, the perspective changes. I don't understand violence.” As the video reemerged, netizens reacted with anger towards her remarks and condemned the actress for her comments.

One angry user wrote, “Historian Sai Pallavi is back! Comparing Kashmiri Hindu genocide to cattle smuggling—brilliant insight, right? And now, she’s cast as Mata Sita? Bollywood’s casting is on fire… but not in a good way! At this rate, they’ll be left with an audience of one: their PR team!” Another said, “So sad this Communist Sai Pallavi is playing the role of Sita Ma in Ramayana.”
