The actor tied the knot with superstar Rajinikanth's daughter in 2004. 18 years later, the couple announced their mutual separation. However, their recent social media activity has hinted at the possibility of a reunion.

On September 15, Aishwarya Rajinikanth took to her Instagram account to share a photo from her Onam celebration. The filmmaker shared a photo of herself with the traditional Sadya spread in front of her and wrote in the caption, “Happy Onam to all my dear ones who are celebrating today 🌼🌸..may your homes be filled with loads of flowers…lots of sadhya food..happiness and laughter! @soundaryaarajinikant I’m stuffed right now ! Thank you for the yum lunch..the second picture is me wondering where to run 5kms this evening for all this eating ! Total Sunday cheat meal max ! Totally worth it !” She donned a yellow salwar kurta in the post.  

However, what caught the attention of social media users was Aishwarya's ex-husband's appreciation of the post. As soon as she shared the photo, Dhanush liked it. This was caught by the netizens who shared their excitement on the possibility of the former couple getting back together.

The couple met each other in the early 2000s and dated for a brief period. Their dating life remained largely out of the public eye and most came to know about their relationship only when they tied the knot in 2004. They are co-parents to two sons Yatra and Linga. Despite their divorce, the couple continues to remain cordial with each other.

Following their separation, Dhanush put out a statement on his social media account that read, “Eighteen years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."
