Movie buffs are eagerly waiting for Dhanush starrer Raayan. The action thriller was supposed to release this week on the 13th, but now makers have once again announced the new release date. Co-starring Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram, the movie has been postponed for a reason better known to the makers

When will Raayan release in theatres?

Raayan marks Dhanush's second directorial and 50th film of his career. The movie will now release on July 26, just two days before the actor's 41st birthday. Announcing the new release date, Dhanush took to his X handle to unveil a new poster that shows him in a fierce avatar. In the poster, he can be seen looking at the camera with an idol of Goddess Durga behind him. The poster also features a bag and a pot placed next to the actor. The colour temperature of the frame is warm with flames making up for most of the frame. "#Raayan From July 26th," read the caption.

Raayan is hitting the theatres just two weeks after Kamal Haasan's highly anticipated movie Indian 2.

What else do we know about Raayan?

Last month, Dhanush unveiled the first song titled Adangatha Asuran from the movie on X. The lyrical video shows the actor pulling off some killer dance moves, grooving alongside a large group of dancers. The song is composed and sung by A.R. Rahman and has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva.

The movie is touted to revolve around Dhanush's character Raayan whose family was murdered. He trains himself to avenge their deaths. Seeking those responsible, his quest leads him through the criminal underworld. The movie also stars  S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Saravanan in pivotal roles.
