Rajinikanth was recently hospitalised in Chennai where he underwent surgery to help with a swollen blood vessel. After keeping Thalaivar under two days of observation, doctors discharged him on Friday, October 4. It was reported that the superstar's health deteriorated while he was shooting for filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's movie Coolie. Now, the director has opened up about the rumours and clarified that the actor had informed the team 40 days ago about the surgery.

What did Lokesh Kanagaraj say about Rajinikanth's health?

During a media interaction, Lokesh shared he spoke to Rajinikanth over the phone and he is recovering well. He clarified the rumours and said Rajinikanth had informed the team around 40 days ago that he would undergo treatment. "It’s sad to see false news spread on social media. Ultimately, Rajini sir’s health is more important than shooting for Coolie," he continued.

"If he had any discomfort on sets, we would’ve cancelled shooting, and the entire unit would’ve been by his side at the hospital. It was disheartening to see such falsehood being peddled by YouTubers," he concluded.

What was Rajinikanth's statement after being discharged from the hospital?

Hours after being discharged from the hospital, Rajinikanth released a statement in which he thanked PM Narendra Modi , industry friends, and fans for praying for his well-being. Taking to his X handle, the 73-year-old actor dropped a statement written in Tamil that we loosely translated to, "To all my political friends who wished me a speedy recovery, to all my film fraternity friends, to all my well-wishers, the press and media, my sincere thanks to you all. And to the fans who have made me, who keep me alive and love me immeasurably, praying for my well-being. I express my sincere gratitude to you all.”

He separately thanked PM Modi, Amitabh Bachchan , Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu , and Governor of TN Ravi, for personally inquiring about his health while he was admitted to hospital.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajinikanth will be next seen in Vettaiyan, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan , Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Faasil. The movie will release on October 10.
