Kamal Haasan's latest release Indian 2 has emerged as a massive flop. The Tamil vigilante action drama hit the big screens on July 12 after over 5 years in the making. However, it did not sit well with both the audiences and the critics, resulting in a huge loss for the makers. Moreover, it is all set to premiere on Netflix on August 9, within a month of its release. In a latest update, Haasan shared that he will not be returning to host Bigg Boss Tamil this year.
Kamal Haasan announces break from hosting Bigg Boss Tamil
The Vikram star wrote in a post on X, “With a heavy heart I wish to inform you that I will be taking a small break from our journey that began 7 years ago. Due to prior cinematic commitments, I am unable to host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil.”
He added, “I have been privileged to reach you in your homes. You have showered me with your love and affection, for which you have my everlasting gratitude. Your spirited and passionate support of the contestants is at the one core of what makes Bigg Boss Tamil one of the best television reality shows in India." Meanwhile, the makers are yet to reveal who the new host of Bigg Boss Tamil will be.
Kamal Haasan to lose crores after opting out of Bigg Boss Tamil 8
According to reports, Kamal Haasan charges quite a hefty fees for hosting Bigg Boss Tamil, which only increases every year. He is rumoured to have taken home ₹130 crore for hosting Bigg Boss Tamil 7 last year. It is only safe to assume that he would have charged ₹150 crore or more for his hosting gig for the 8th season. However, with his decision to leave the show, many things will change.
