Kanguva 'Loud' BGM Trolled, Team Bows Down To Criticism; Theatres To Play Movie At Reduced Volume

Kanguva: Suriya, Disha Patani and Bobby Deol released on November 14 to mixed reviews. While some praised Ghajini star's powerful performance in movie, ors criticised it for its storyline and execution. Kanguva has been mired in controversy for its shoddy should mixing and Devi Sri Pras's "loud" background score. After facing flak from viewers over "deafening sound levels" movie will be played in aters at 2 levels lower, producer KE Gnanavel Raja confirmed.  

Kanguva producer takes feedback over "loud BGM"

KE Gnanavel Raja told press that film’s sound will be reduced by "2 points" starting today. He said, “We have spoken to everyone and asked m to reduce volume by 2 points. film is set a thousand years back, and most episodes have massive action sequences. So, I asked exhibitors to reduce sound by 2 points, considering feedback.”

He also dressed criticism that Devi Sri Pras did not give film good music, claiming, “No one has criticised film’s songs or even RR (re-recording), only feedback was that volume was high. So DSP is not to be blamed for that. sound issues will be rectified by night show.”

Oscar-winning sound designer reacts to Kanguva criticism

Oscar and a BAFTA winning sound designer Resul Pookutty responded to criticism that Siva’s Kanguva was "loud". He claimed that "last minute" changes could have compromised sound quality and suggested course correction.

“ sound guy?! or innumerable fixes comes at last moment to satiate all insecurities. High time our fraternity to put your foot down and say things loud and clear. No film will have a repeat value if audience walk out with he ache," Pookutty shared on social media. According to makers, Kanguva collected over ₹58 crore worldwide on day 1.
