Kanguva Producer Confirms Kalki 2898 AD, Devara TV Rights Unsold Despite Box Office Success
Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel revealed Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD and Jr NTR's Devara are struggling to secure TV rights despite being commercially successful.
Suriya is gearing up for the release of his movie Kanguva. The actor along with producer KE Gnanavel has been busy promoting the movie. During one such interaction with fans, the producer shared an interesting update about Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD and Jr NTR’s Devara TV rights.
Kalki 2898 AD and Devara struggling to close satellite deals?
According to a report in 123Telugu.com, during a recent X Space interaction with fans, Kanguva producer revealed that Prabhas starrer and Jr NTR’s recent films are struggling to close their satellite deals, despite being commercially successful. The producers first tried to convince Star Maa Group to close the deal, but the channel didn’t show any interest, per Telugu Cinema. Now, they have approached Zee Group but they are yet to seal the deal.
Whereas, OTT streaming giants are purchasing the rights even before the theatrical release owing to the popularity of the actors. However, satellite rights have become a tough task for all the producers.

Post-theatrical digital streaming rights were acquired by Amazon Prime Video at a cost of ₹200 crore, while Netflix acquired the rights for ₹175 crore. While Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions are premiering on Prime Video, Hindi is streaming on Netflix.
Devara’s digital rights have been sold at THIS whopping amount
The digital distribution rights of the film were acquired by Netflix for ₹155 crore. The film would have its digital premiere in all languages only after 7–8 weeks of its theatrical run, which is around November 8.
What do we know about Kanguva?
Starring Suriya and Bobby Deol in the lead roles, the movie is directed by Siva. It also stars Disha Patani , Jagapathi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam and Yogi Babu in the supporting roles. Kanguva is an epic saga where ancient valour meets modern-day courage, revolving around a tribal warrior's struggle to save his people a millennium ago and its mysterious link to a shadow cop's quest in the present. It is slated to release on November 14.
