Leo actress Janany recalls shooting the iconic coffee shop action scene with Thalapathy Vijay

While Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Leo continues to break box office records, well on its way to become the highest-grossing Tamil film ever, Vijay fans can’t resist sharing their fan theories and dissecting various elements and scenes of the movie.

One particular sequence which caught a lot of attention from fans was the Coffee shop action sequence, the turnaround moment in the film where the audience is made witness to a whole new facet to the protagonist. Now actress Janany Kunaseelan, who was one of the actors in the scene, talked at length about how the scene was shot. The actress was talking to Galatta when she spoke about this scene.

Janany recalls sustaining injuries during coffee shop scene

Janany recalled Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj narrating the scene to her prior to shoot. Janany added, “He explained that the scene is set at night after my marriage takes place in the morning and told me to imagine how it would be if it happened for real.”

Later on shoot, Janany recalled sustaining small bruises because of constant pulling of arm by Sandy master, her co-actor in the scene. She added, “I didn't inform anybody about the injury and was quiet during the shooting. I think even Sandy master prodded me to share it [with the film's unit], but I told him that it was okay as I didn't want anybody to go through any difficulties because of me.”

Mysskin sir asked everyone to clap for me: Janany

Janany shared that she was very conscious about no other actor being compelled to go for multiple takes because of her, also recalling how she delivered the shot in one take where she was supposed to pull Mysskin, another co-actor who played one of the villain figures in the film. Janany also recalled being praised by Mysskin right after the shot was done, who also asked everyone on the set to clap for her. This coffee shop scene, among other action set-pieces of Leo, has emerged as one of the highlights of the movie.

Janany Kunaseelan had first come under limelight for her appearance on Bigg Boss season 6. Meanwhile, Leo, which released on October 19, also starred Trisha Krishnan, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Sanjay Dutt in prominent role. According to a recent report from Sacnilk.com, Leo had collected over 558 crores nett at global box office till Thursday, November 2.
